Leonardo da Vinci in Sarzana

At the event in Sarzana Firmafede fortress "Naturando" ,that will be held from 28 April to 1 May, an exhibition called "Leonardo's machines" will be shown with late night opening on Friday, Saturday and Sunday until 23.00(11.00pm).

For the uninitiated, Leonardo da Vinci was not only a painter; during his lifetime he wrote manuscripts, musical works, architecture, water works; He was a scientist, but above all one of the greatest inventor.

During the event you can discover all the knowledge of the "Homo Universalis" which he devoted all his life to study, learn, invent and design: from the scientific knowledge of the human body to the math and alchemy.

In this event you will see some models of inventions of Leonardo, about twenty models, including war machines, machines for civil use and flying machines.

The passion that Leonardo nurtured throughout his life was on the flight. About the flight he designed some models such as:

1. Aerial screw: consisted of a spring powered by four men and a flywheel that rendered the longer the duration of screwing.

2. Swing wing: the measure of the wing was designed by Leonardo after observing the flight of birds; the right measure was 12 meters in both length and width.

3. Glider: the wings are very similar to those of large birds and fixed on the inside; the outside is controlled by a cable from flying through the use of some handles.

Other invention of Leonardo that extends to the present day was the "bicycle chain" that Leonardo conceived but for military use only, to tighten the springs of firearms.
