Mushroom Festival in Maissana.

The Mushroom Festival is back, a vital fruit of the earth.

From 25 to 27 August 2017 will take place in Maissana, in the province of La Spezia, the 35 ° edition of the Mushroom Festival. Cultivated in the woods of Tavarone and the Alta Val di vara the chestnut mushrooms are still cooked according to traditional recipes.

The fungus is historically an important food, as well as good, throughout Liguria, as it was one of the main sources of sustenance, together with the chestnut.

The values of tradition, of peasant life that almost resume in these three days of celebration are brought to the table.

The mushrooms have always enriched any dish, from the sauce to the tagliatelle to the condiment for the meat. A poor ingredient but that has acquired in time so much importance for the inhabitants of the Ligurian Hill.

This festival thus becomes the occasion to stay together on a day of good food, fun and, above all, of memory for those who lived the years when the fungus was a vital resource.
