The Grotta Grande of Pignone

The province of La Spezia in particular the territory of Pignone is characterized by the presence of numerous caves, sinkholes, populated by geotritons(Cave Salamander) and other living species.
In the last month of June, the Grotta Grande of Pignone was studied by a group of naturalists of the University of Milan that highlighted as in it an important colony of geotritons of the species Speleomantes Ambrosi, from the name of the discoverer.

We think it is fundamental for everyone to know better the environment in which we live, even in its darkest recesses. For this reason, we thought that a guided tour of the Grotta Grande(great cave), followed by an explanatory lecture by an expert naturalist like Dr. Carlo Torricelli, a deep connoisseur of the cave and his "tenants", could provide us with important ideas of knowledge, allowing us to spend a summer evening in the nature.
For the visit to the cave you need to be equipped with flashlight and suitable shoes, wanting also with an accident helmet. The meeting is at 19 (7pm) on the 17th of July in Piazza Marconi in Pignone.
