Urban path to rediscover the theatrical halls now abandoned in La Spezia

From the eighteenth century to the present day, the city of La Spezia has seen the creation of 36 halls between cinemas and theatres, which, through this event, want to be brought to light and connected with the contemporary context; In fact, in every place where a theatre once stood, a theatrical, dancing, circus or musical show will be staged.

The first phase of this project was the realization of an online virtual map, usable by all both on Android devices and on iOS devices where all the halls that were once in the city of La Spezia are reported and which are abandoned or destined for other purposes. This map was realized thanks to the previous research and collection of historical, artistic and sociological data concerning every theater present now or in the past in La Spezia.

The final goal of the project is to rediscover and enhance the theatrical history of the city, through the creation of a itinerant dramaturgy and with historical content, involving an adult but also young audience.

The program will extend over two different days:

-Friday 19 May at 17.00(5pm) in Piazza Verdi there will be a preview of the shows;

-Saturday 20 May from 18.00(6pm) onwards throughout the historic center of La Spezia there will be these representations for the city.

A project that will surely will the territory and will make the right tribute to what has been one of the most significant elements of the history of man since Ancient Greece: the theatre.
