The Special Olympics returns to La Spezia

After the editions of 2007, 2011, 2014 and 2015, this year the city of La Spezia has the honour of hosting the Special Olympics "Games for Inclusion" from the 11th to 15th June, an international event that will host athletes from Switzerland, Gibraltar, Andorra, Romania, Malta and Spain.

The event has not only the aim of the competition but has a valid cultural contribution to the change of mentality towards people who have disabilities intelletive.

Five sports where athletes compete:

-Basketball at the "Mariotti" sports hall, via Federici;

-Football at the sports field "Montagna", viale Fieschi;

-Artistic gymnastics and rhythmic gymnastics at the gym on June 2, via Monfalcone;

-Badminton at the DLF gym.

The opening ceremony includes the torch run, which, before arriving in Piazza Europa in La Spezia, will cross many towns all over Liguria. At the arrival of the torch in Piazza Europa on June 12 at 20.30 (8.30pm), there will be the real way to the games;
As for the closing ceremony, however, will be held on June 14 at 21.00 (9pm) in Portovenere, with the passage of the flag and a party with musical animation for all.

The entrance to all the halls and the sports field is completely free, so everyone can go to bring their support to the athletes of this event.

Moreover, many volunteers are with, both from local associations and schools, in order to facilitate the work of sensibilazzazione, training and promotion of volunteering locally and territorially.

Many athletes will give the best to show that nothing and no one can stop the love for sport and the opportunity to give our support to these people is indispensable.
