The Ice Palace

For those who are walking around the town of La Spezia, among the various attractions, has the opportunity to observe the Palace of Ice.

Located at the crossroads between street Sprugola and street Colombo, it was designed in 1920 by the architect Franco Oliva on behalf of the company Anonymous cold industry, with the aim of keeping in cold the perishable foods.
Today the building, although the seat of the Carispezia, has retained its artistic patrimony by the sculptor Augusto Maglie: They are visible from the outside of the bas-reliefs that underline its ancient function, with images linked to the cold (penguins and polar bears) and baskets of fresh fruit.
