La Spezia is a city with a thousand stories and a thousand faces as they tell its palaces, most of them made in
Art Nouveau style.
In an itinerary of about thirty minutes here are the three liberty palaces not to be missed:
Palazzo Maggiani, Palazzo Contesso and the Palace of Ice.
- In full evidence at the corner of Corso Cavour and via Aldo Ferrari is located the Palazzo Maggiani whose construction dates back to the beginning of the last century and is characterized by a diversified adornment for each floor of its façade. It highlights the decoration with the beautiful angel and, the typical symbols of liberty, the peacock and the sunflower.
It was awarded, for its originality, at the Paris Exhibition of 1922. In 1996, it suffered severe damage caused by a fire.
