The ‘Riviera di Levante’ is a stretch of coast that goes from Parco Naturale di Monte Marcello, on top of the hills of Lerici, to the city of Genova.

This beautiful natural landscape is the continuation of Cinque Terre. Beyond Punta Mesco, the extremity of Monterosso al Mare, we come across Levanto: a small town that overlooks the sea, larger than the villages of Cinque Terre, is an attraction for tourists all summer long, thanks to its long, well-equipped beach. In this little town, we can visit the Church of Sant’Andrea, the castle and, moving to the backcountry, the medieval villages that bring us to Val di Vara.

Not far from Levanto, we can find Bonassola – a small village that is similar to the beautiful Monterosso: this little town also has a marvellous castle and a beautiful sidewalk on the sea, it stretches along the beach, dividing the residential area from the beachfront.



From Framura to Deiva Marina, the beauties abound: going towards Genoa, we are leaving the Gulf of Poets to enter the Gulf of Tigullio, which is part of the Province of Genoa– capital of Liguria.

The territory includes the coastal districts of Portofino, Santa Margherita Ligure, Rapallo, Zoagli, Chiavari, Lavagna and Sestri Levante.

Continuing along the Riviera Spezzina, the first place we find is Moneglia, in the centre of the cove between the sea and the hills, sprinkled with pine and olive trees. Sestri Levante is close by and renowed for its beaches, it is situated between ‘Baia delle Favole’, on the west side of the town, and ‘Baia del Silenzio’, on the East side. Both are divided by a thin piece of land that links the little town to the verdant and rocky promontory of Capo Manara, called “L’isola”.

Further on, we can find Chiavari, with its typical historical centre and houses with low and irregular porticos; it’s a beautiful modern town too, with a spacious boulevard of palm trees and oleanders, and large squares full of flowerbeds.



Proceeding along the coast we can reach Zoagli: from this point, there is an amazing natural seafront walk, that offers a wide view on Golfo del Tigullio from Portofino to Punta Manara, in the promontory of Sestri Levante.

At the extremity, there is Rapallo, another tourist centre, famous for its hotels along the seafront sidewalk, its artistic, sport and socialite events, and its privileged position on the hidden side of Tigullio.

From Rapallo, you can arrive in Santa Margherita Ligure, situated in one of most beautiful inlets of Golfo del Tigullio, and its twin Portofino, a little slice of heaven. Here we are inside a natural reserve, which presents a continual and harmonic interchange of natural ecosystem and plantations, surrounded by a particular setting, in the typical Mediterranean scrub.
