Route between Lerici and Sarzana.

An adventure in the beautiful villages of the Gulf of poets.
A trip visiting the sea and hills, fascinating fortresses and masterpieces of art without forgetting the stories of pilgrims, merchants, popes and leaders: these are Lerici and Sarzana.

The first is located at the eastern end of the Gulf of poets: in the Middle Ages it was a strategic port for military control and a stage of many people as it was very close to the Via Francigena.
It is often cited among the poets of the fourteenth century literature, including Dante, Boccaccio and Petrarca. In the last centuries it has become the preferred destination for many people, almost a privileged place to stay.

From there little is Sarzana, a town on the border between Liguria and Tuscany.
It developed during the Middle Ages along the Via Francigena and has now it is now renowned for its historic centre, the fortress of Sarzana and the citadel where you can find numerous monuments and art.
